The MSRIT IEEE student branch regularly conducts a wide range of activities including technical talks, workshops, industrial tours and also a yearly technical fest. Entry to these events is free for all student members. You will also get priority over non-members in case the number of admissions is limited.

Student members can also choose to volunteer for events and be a part of the organizing team, to get valuable experience in conducting large scale events. Selected members who perform their activities well are likely to be elected into positions on the Executive Committee.

The IEEE is also an excellent place to interact with leading personalities from the industry and academia. As a student member, you will be invited to many leading international IEEE conferences and seminars, which present you a chance to meet some of the foremost experts in the world and learn more about cutting-edge technology and the latest research.

If you are interested in representing the college at the national level, members can choose to participate in any of hundreds of technical fests held by IEEE student branches all over the country. If you have the skills to win in technical competitions, this is a golden opportunity to expand your scope to a national, and sometimes international, level.

And, of course, all IEEE members receive a subscription to IEEE Spectrum, the world's foremost engineering and scientific magazine, and an IEEE web account with an @ieee.org e-mail alias!

You can choose to join as a student member either for 6 months or 12 months. All applications are online, via the secure IEEE website. Complete membership details are available at the IEEE student concourse. Here's a short summary of some important issues you need to know:
Half-Year membership:
You must register online with the IEEE between 1st March and 15th August of the year. Half yearly memberships are not processed outside this time period. The cost of membership for students is USD 12.50 (approx Rs 550). You will be a qualified member of the IEEE upto 15th December of that year.
Full-Year membership:
The IEEE accepts full year membership applications all through the year. The cost of membership for students is USD25.00 (approx Rs.1100).

All applications are handled securely online directly by the IEEE. If you are interested in joining the IEEE student branch you can apply from the comfort of your home, but you need a valid international credit card. If you do not have a credit card the student branch is always willing to help you out. Contact any member of the EXECOM for help.
