Instrumentation Technology

About the Department.

Department of Instrumentation Technology, established in the year 1992, has been accredited by NBA 3 times and also has ISO 9001:2008 Quality management System in place.
 
The mission of the department is to uphold MSRIT mission and thus provide quality education to the students and mould them to be excellent Instrumentation Engineers with adequate managerial skills and noble human qualities
 
The synergy of the progressive management, committed faculty, staff, and students are ensuring in excellent academic results year after year
         
The goals of the department have been to prepare the students Industry-Ready by aligning Instrumentation Technology Education Program to the current technology and the best practices in the area of Industrial Automation
 
Today’s Industrial Automation systems are being built based on the latest advances in Electronics, Information, Communication, and Networking technologies apart from sensor and control technologies. The objectives of the department have been to make the students proficient in these technologies in general and towards the deployment these technologies in building Industrial Automation Systems.
 
 
The department is well equipped with the following lab facilities:
 
1.     PLC/DCS Lab with the latest technology from Rockwell Automation –
        MSRIT is the only college in the state to have established such a lab for undergraduate program
2.    Sophisticated simulation lab with Lab View, Matlab 7, COMSOL, Intellisuite and, Coventerware
3.    Electronics lab with Verilog HDL and Xilinx kits
4.    Power supplies Lab and Mixed signals lab
5.    DSPLabwithkits basedonTIProcessors                                               
6.    Analog electronics lab
7.    Industrial instrumentation lab
8.     Logic design lab/Micro-controller (8051) lab with facilities for Programming in C and Assembly language
9.     SCADA/NCS Lab (under progress)
 
The curriculum of the department has been broadly divided into 3 areas keeping in mind the knowledge integration over the entire period. The contents in each course is continuously reviewed and updated in consultation with the leading industry and academic institutions such as:
