Mechanical Engineering

History.
The department of Mechanical Engineering presently located in Engineering Science Block II, was the first department to be started along with the institution, founded by the great philanthropist, educationalist and visionary, Late Dr. M.S. Ramaiah. The department was started initially with student strength of 60 and staff strength of 8. Over the last 42 years, the department has grown in all magnitude and presently has an intake of 180 and faculty strength of 47. All the faculty members possess post – graduate degrees. Department has a team of 46 highly dedicated faculty members. The average experience of the faculty of the department is around 13 years. Most of the faculty members are well experienced in university duties like paper setting, valuing, etc. Some of them were members of Board of Studies and Board of Examiners for the University.
